In the latest long-range data, much of the United States is trending colder and snowier, while Canada and the northern U.S. stay on the mild side. Europe looks mild and wetter overall, with the best snow chances in the north and at higher elevations. There's also an interesting Polar Vortex signal pointing to a potentially more active second half of winter. You can also check the latest month-by-month outlook maps for your own region in the new Winter Explorer.&lt;/p&gt;</text><analysis /><region /><search_query /><result_type /><url>https://x.com/severeweatherEU/status/2107739681760678310</url><published_at /><credits>0.0070</credits><parent_id /><referenced_id /><created_at>2026-10-08T07:45:17.972118+00:00</created_at><source><id>2</id><name>x.com</name></source><tags><tag>forecast</tag><tag>weather</tag><tag>winter</tag></tags><media><media_item><id>2263</id><link>https://pbs.twimg.com/card_img/2107742028591136768/NRKhkzsQ?format=png&amp;name=small</link><alt /><media_type /><file /><file_name /><file_ext /><created_at>2026-10-08T07:45:18.301545+00:00</created_at></media_item></media></item><item><id>1526</id><handler /><handler_name /><external_id /><title>EBRD cuts growth forecasts as conflict and energy shocks hit Iraq and Lebanon</title><text>The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has cut its growth forecasts as the war drives an energy shock that is hitting Iraq’s oil-dependent economy particularly hard. The EBRD now expects growth across its regions to slow to 2.5 percent in 2026, down from 3.4 percent in 2025. Iraq’s economy is projected to contract by 12 percent this year, with the risk of a deeper downturn if export disruptions persist through the end of the year. “The problem in Iraq is disruption to exports,” EBRD Chief Economist Beata Javorcik told the AFP news agency. Meanwhile, Lebanon’s economy is expected to contract by 5 percent this year due to ongoing conflict with Israel.</text><analysis /><region /><search_query /><result_type /><url>https://aje.news/h39n9z</url><published_at /><credits>0.0040</credits><parent_id /><referenced_id /><created_at>2026-09-24T06:01:44.644823+00:00</created_at><source><id>5</id><name>aljazeera.com</name></source><tags><tag>forecast</tag><tag>conflict</tag><tag>economy</tag></tags><media /></item><item><id>497</id><handler>@Weatherunited1</handler><handler_name>David Schlotthauer</handler_name><external_id /><title>This is now getting absurdly serious with the El N...</title><text>This is now getting absurdly serious with the El Niño. The latest OSTIA SST data now has a peak anomaly of 8.1C above normal, with Peru reporting a peak SSTA of 9.5C. What's more concerning is that these anomalies are only going to increase over the next 10+ days, as the latest ECMWF forecast is predicting a peak of 12.5C right off the coast of Peru. As I said earlier, this is setting up to be the most impactful El Niño since record-keeping began in 1950. Also can't wait for the new C3S model ensemble to come out by around September 10th, as I'm sure the wet signal across the west &amp; south will be bonkers.</text><analysis /><region /><search_query /><result_type /><url>https://x.com/Weatherunited1/status/2096898054641315933</url><published_at /><credits>0.0050</credits><parent_id /><referenced_id /><created_at>2026-09-08T09:00:38.021955+00:00</created_at><source><id>2</id><name>x.com</name></source><tags><tag>weather</tag><tag>forecast</tag><tag>el-niño</tag></tags><media><media_item><id>447</id><link>https://pbs.twimg.com/media/HRmsHCmacAAhPIc?format=png&amp;name=small</link><alt>Image</alt><media_type /><file /><file_name /><file_ext /><created_at>2026-09-08T09:00:39.821037+00:00</created_at></media_item><media_item><id>448</id><link>https://pbs.twimg.com/media/HRmsupBbkAAnDKx?format=png&amp;name=small</link><alt>Image</alt><media_type /><file /><file_name /><file_ext /><created_at>2026-09-08T09:00:39.880798+00:00</created_at></media_item></media></item><item><id>407</id><handler>@BenNollWeather</handler><handler_name>Ben Noll</handler_name><external_id /><title>El Niño will peak around 4°C in December, accordin...</title><text>El Niño will peak around 4°C in December, according to brand new ECMWF seasonal guidance.
