Meanwhile, ETF holdings have continued to rise and are now approaching the February peak, when gold was trading roughly USD 1,000 higher. This resilience supports our view that while higher yields remain a near-term headwind for gold, they may simultaneously increase its longer-term appeal. Persistently elevated borrowing costs add pressure on governments, companies and other leveraged parts of the financial system, raising concerns about debt sustainability and financial stability. That may help explain why investors continue to seek protection through gold as an asset that sits outside the traditional financial system.</text><analysis /><region /><search_query /><result_type /><url>https://x.com/Ole_S_Hansen/status/2103415598650712540</url><published_at /><credits>0.0045</credits><parent_id /><referenced_id>1667</referenced_id><created_at>2026-09-25T11:36:44.396556+00:00</created_at><source><id>2</id><name>x.com</name></source><tags><tag>etf</tag><tag>stress-test</tag><tag>gold</tag></tags><media><media_item><id>1462</id><link>https://pbs.twimg.com/media/HTDVN1zWgAAIuhz?format=jpg&amp;name=small</link><alt>Image</alt><media_type /><file /><file_name /><file_ext /><created_at>2026-09-25T11:36:45.156219+00:00</created_at></media_item></media></item><item><id>1650</id><handler>@MBAeconomics1</handler><handler_name>MBAeconomics</handler_name><external_id /><title>10-year Treasury hits 5.2%! The descent was a policy era: central banks sold gold outright through the 1990s and 2000s, Britain and Switzerland most famously, while reserve growth went into Treasuries, building the pure fiat reserve system in which gold was treated as a dead legacy asset. The climb since is that era running in reverse, driven first by purchases after 2008, then accelerating after reserves were frozen in 2022, and amplified by the price itself. Read as a round trip, today's 24% is not an extreme, it is a partial normalization: the 11% trough was the lowest gold allocation in the modern history of central banking, and the world has retraced about a third of the way toward where it stood when the system last trusted paper claims this little.Caveats, honestly: the share rises mechanically with the gold price, so part of every uptick is valuation rather than tonnage, an ECB caveat I have flagged before, different data sets draw this line at different levels depending on whose reserves and what prices are used, and nothing says the 1980 peak is a target rather than a panic reading. But direction across 4 years of purchases, survey intentions and price is one way, and the chart now asks which level was normal.Source: Financial Times</text><analysis /><region /><search_query /><result_type /><url>https://www.linkedin.com/feed/</url><published_at /><credits>0.0110</credits><parent_id /><referenced_id /><created_at>2026-09-24T08:53:05.398025+00:00</created_at><source><id>1</id><name>linkedin.com</name></source><tags><tag>economics</tag><tag>gold</tag><tag>reserves</tag></tags><media><media_item><id>1352</id><link>https://media.licdn.com/dms/image/v2/D4D22AQF0rI4LipiDcA/feedshare-shrink_800/B4DaDEyHg3K8Ac-/0/1790007867726?e=1792022400&amp;v=beta&amp;t=_3X8OYgccJDybz_0ryv8vIkfNuuh4puJkd0gASf638Q</link><alt>View image</alt><media_type /><file /><file_name /><file_ext /><created_at>2026-09-24T08:53:05.711132+00:00</created_at></media_item></media></item><item><id>1531</id><handler>https://www.linkedin.com/in/sheikh-marzan/</handler><handler_name>Marjanul Islam</handler_name><external_id /><title>🔴 No matter how many meetings Bessent has with Chi...</title><text>🔴 No matter how many meetings Bessent has with China, China isn’t backing the U.S. dollar anymore.China has already made its decision about the future of money, and the dollar has no place in it.You don’t need to believe me. To understand why, a little history.... In December 2015, the market expected the Fed to hike at its mid-month meeting. I made a pretty bold call that this would mark the bottom for the price, as the expected event that was the basis for so many gold short trades would become a fait accompli, and the traders would move on. At that point in time, Western traders were making the gold price, and few were taking it. Gold soared after that initial Fed hike, and through the subsequent ones, and many of our junior mining recommendations jumped 4x-5x over the next six months. Today we find a similar, but not identical, situation. Western traders have also leaned on gold in recent weeks in anticipation of a Fed rate hike, but with a lesser effect than in the previous example. That's because while the West is again making the gold price, others are now gleefully taking it. So the short gold trade is over after the Fed's move yesterday...and the powerful underlying demand is taking control once again. Buckle up.</text><analysis /><region /><search_query /><result_type /><url>https://x.com/Brien_Lundin/status/2100574730063368661</url><published_at /><credits>0.0050</credits><parent_id /><referenced_id /><created_at>2026-09-17T16:09:13.493255+00:00</created_at><source><id>2</id><name>x.com</name></source><tags><tag>fed</tag><tag>trading</tag><tag>gold</tag></tags><media><media_item><id>792</id><link>https://pbs.twimg.com/media/HSa9jYdWIAAM0g3?format=jpg&amp;name=small</link><alt>Image</alt><media_type /><file /><file_name /><file_ext /><created_at>2026-09-17T16:09:14.277110+00:00</created_at></media_item></media></item><item><id>771</id><handler>@TaviCosta</handler><handler_name>Otavio (Tavi) Costa</handler_name><external_id /><title>This is still one of the most important macro dive...</title><text>This is still one of the most important macro divergences in markets today.
