This includes GPUs, servers, memory, etc. One chart below shows the seasonally adjusted nominal data.
<text>
Jason Miller's thoughts on this:

• September 2026 saw imports of these goods reach $86.9 billion, which was up 16.2% from August's $74.8 billion. Year-over-year, imports are up 151% (they were $34.6 billion last year).

• Compared to 2023, which was the year when large language models started to become popular, imports are up 457%. That number isn't a typo.

• For anyone wondering, adjusting for price changes—notoriously hard with hi-tech products—using the import price index for this category of goods doesn't change the narrative conveyed by the nominal data.

Implication: Import data showed AI capex continued unabated through Q3. I continue to wonder just how much more room for growth we have for AI capex, and I believe 2027 will be the year when growth rates slow dramatically.
</text><analysis /><region million tons in August, to 37.9 million tons, marking their 2nd consecutive monthly increase.This brings the 2-month increase to ~9.0 million tons, or a ~33% recovery from the total drop between January and July this year.The increase in crude supply has also allowed China to ramp up fuel exports, with overseas sales of gasoline and diesel surging +29% last month.However, China's crude imports were down -23% year-over-year and -32% below this year's peak.Meanwhile, China’s massive oil inventories are estimated at more than 1.2 billion barrels, giving the country ample flexibility to reduce purchases as prices rise.China's massive oil stockpile is growing again.</text><analysis /><region /><search_query /><result_type />
<published_at
